Does Argus Capture send screenshots to a server to detect secrets?

No. Detection runs entirely on-device using Apple's Vision framework. No screenshot content is uploaded anywhere. Your captures stay on your Mac.

Which secret types does automatic redaction cover?

The built-in Developer profile covers API keys with common prefixes (sk-, pk-, AKIA, ghp_, xox*, AIza), JWTs, email addresses, credit card numbers, and IP addresses. A high-entropy heuristic also catches long random tokens with no known prefix.

Can I add my own patterns for internal credentials?

Yes. Any blur profile accepts custom regex patterns for project-specific token formats. You can also define manual zones — fixed screen regions that are always blurred regardless of OCR output.

What is the difference between the blur styles?

Glass applies a frosted blur with rounded corners. Pixelate uses pixel-block obfuscation. Blur applies a standard Gaussian blur. Solid renders an opaque box — the original content is not recoverable even from the raw image file.

Does the Developer profile also blur faces?

No. Face detection is part of the Privacy (max) profile, which adds Vision face detection on top of all text-based patterns. The Developer profile focuses on credentials and tokens only.
